Barbara Barrie

Barbara Barrie played the role of Mamma Jacobs in "Girth".

Bryan Fuller fans probably best remember her for her recurring role on the show Dead Like Me as Phyllis. She also had a regular role as Susan's (Brooke Shields) grandmother, Helen "Nana" Keane, on the show Suddenly Susan, which Daisies co-star Ellen Greene once guested on. She had a brief stint playing Barney Miller's wife, Elizabeth, on the 1975 show Barney Miller, until the character was written out.

Broadway enthusiasts, meanwhile, might recognize her from the original cast of the Stephen Sondheim-Harold Prince musical, Company, where she originated the role of Sarah and was nominated for a Tony award for Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Musical. It is also probably known to those that her late husband was Jay Harnick, the brother of Sheldon Harnick, who wrote the lyrics to musicals like Fiddler on the Roof, She Loves Me, and The Apple Tree.
